Over at Craft of the Day we found a Candy Cane Rudolph Ornament . This Rudolph Candy Cane Ornament is different than the one we all know. It is made using 2 candy canes and forming them into a heart shape and then shaping the antlers using pipe cleaners. Complete instructions can be found here. While reading some blogs the other day we came across Mini Me Mitchell's were we found a Candy Cane Frame craft project. They used candy canes shaped into a heart with a felt backing. Also, there is a hand print wreath and snowman craft project you can make. Happy Crafting!!

Today I found three easy craft projects you can make using Candy Canes. These would make a nice gift idea for the person who has everything.

At the Artful Crafter I found a Candy Cane Holder you can make for a votive candle. You will need 12 regular candy canes, 2 1/2" glass votive holder, white glitter, ribbon, a votive candle and a glue gun for this project. Click here for instructions.
At AllFreeCrafts I found a Candy Cane Vase you and the kids can make as gift for their teacher, grandparents or friends. For this project you will need: 30 to 40 candy canes, strong rubber band, clean tin can, evergreen trimmings - cedar, pine, spruce, juniper or holly, and wire-edged ribbon. Make your own Legend of the Candy Cane Bookmarks. You will need

card stock to print the bookmark pattern on
scissors to cut the pattern
hole punch to punch holes in the pattern
clear contact paper
red yarn or red ribbon to lace the bookmark
beads to tie off the end

to make these bookmarks. Over a Lee Hansen's Graphics you can print out Candy Cane, Christmas Tree and Assorted Christmas designs on card stock. In November 2007 I posted ideas for Beaded Candy Canes. Of all the beaded candy cane ornaments I talked about, I like the one found at Craft Elv. This Beaded Candy Cane can be made with just beads or fancied up with lace. If you do not have the materials required to make a Beaded Candy Cane Ornament, you can find some Beaded Candy Cane kits at Oriental Trading Company. These kits give enough supplies to make multiple ornaments. It is only the middle of September, so you have lots of time to get those Candy Cane decorations made before Christmas. Happy Crafting!!

Yes, I know it is summer, but it is also a great time to start some of those Christmas cross stitch projects you want to make as decorations or as gifts. Here are some Christmas cross stitch patterns I found today:

Candy Cane Cross Stitch Pattern over at Hobbyloco.com. It is a small pattern which you could use as a motif on a tree skirt or make as a tree decoration.
Christmas Tree Sampler over at Debidawn.com . This would make a lovely gift, especially for that someone who has everything.
Also at Debidawn.com there are three Christmas Mini patterns: Wreath, Candles and a Heart. These would be great for a tree skirt or tree decoration.

Crocheted Candy Cane Afghan

I meant to post this earlier, but got busy with other things, so I am going to post it now. I found a pattern for a Crocheted Candy Cane Afghan over at Free Vintage Crochet. I think this would make a nice gift for someone who "has everything". The pattern calls for CHADWICK'S RED HEART KNITTING WORSTED, 4 Ply, White and Pink and a Plastic Crochet Hook, No 5. You crochet 160 Motifs and then sew them together, so it would make a great carry along project. Happy Crocheting!!

So, Christmas is over and it is now a new year. Now, what do you do with all those left over Candy Canes. I found a list of 33 uses for those left over candy canes over at Candyblog, including a link to a recipe for Candy Cane Cheesecake, Candy Cane Brownies, Chocolate Mint Layer Cake and more!! These all look like great ideas, and I think I might even try making the Rice Krispies Treat.

Now, what to do with all those Candy Canes you received or have left over from Christmas. I found a recipe for Candy Cane Frozen Mousse at recipezarr.com . For this recipe you will need: 1 - 225g package cream cheese; 300 ml sweetened condensed milk; 1 cup crushed candy canes (peppermint, cinnamon or wintergreen) and 2 cups whipped cream.
